Hey y’all!
This pattern was actually my husband’s idea. He’s loved (aka been obsessed with) sharks since he was a kid. He also wanted me to crochet him a hat. So we put the two things together and bam, a shark hat was born.
This free crochet pattern is easy to make, and a slightly more advanced beginner would be able to make it fairly easily. I’ll walk you through all the steps with photos along the way.
If you would like to purchase the downloadable and printable PDF version of this pattern, you can find it on my Etsy or on Ravelry.

Yarn and Materials
Yarn
I used weight 4 cotton yarn for this hat because of all the good things about it. (You can read my All About Cotton Yarn article to read more). But if you want a really warm hat, you can use something like acrylic or wool.

Sew to end of tail
If you don’t want to stuff the tail, the hat will look like this:
![shark hat on head side view no tail stuffing](https://abiescustomdesigns.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/IMG_1288-scaled.jpeg)
If you choose to stuff the tail, make sure to sew a web look- ing thing where the stuffing ends so that it doesn’t fall out.
